Milagros is a Mexican gallery/ shop next to Columbia Road's famous flower market.
We import Mexican tiles, decorative hand made tiles, brick shaped hand made tiles, hand-blown recycled glassware, laundry baskets,wedding decorations- papel picardo and Mexican folk art. Milagros works with independent makers and small workshops in Mexico to create quality handmade products that combine traditional techniques with contemporary design. We have travelled extensively throughout Mexico and are constantly sourcing new objects that reflect the bold and exuberant colours of the country and its distinctive culture.
Milagros – from the Spanish for ‘miracles’ or surprises' – are the small silver or gold-coloured offerings that Mexicans attach to the images of the Virgin Mary or saints as a request or thanks for help.
Our shop is found in London’s East End, next to Columbia Road’s famous flower market. We are open on Sundays from 9am to 3pm and Saturdays 12 to 5pm or by appointment during the week.
Our handmade Mexican tiles are available in 21 different colours, a variety of decorative tile designs and brick shaped tiles. They are suitable for tiling bathrooms and kitchens. Prices for the tiles begin at 40p each or £36 per square meter. They are available to buy from our shop in London, from our warehouse in Bristol or online.
We import hand-blown recycled glassware from Mexico and work with three different workshops to create engraved, coloured and clear glassware, including vases, jugs, wine glasses, tumblers and bowls. All our glassware is dishwasher-friendly.
Among our other products, we currently have ceramic skeletons, Mexican silver jewellery, brightly woven laundry baskets, ironing baskets and wastepaper baskets; lottery mirrors; milagros; wooden creatures from Oaxaca; Day of the Dead niches; hand-woven bags and oil cloth bags; ceramics from Patzcuaro and papel picardo (decorative paper cut-outs).
